What Happened to Time?
It’s a tough day in many respects. Our son, Jess, graduates from Thurston High School today. My wife keeps finding tears in her eyes. You remember so much of what was and have so much hope for what is to come. We think a lot about success at moments like this. Our minds remember the first day of school and now the last. I used to have a mental to-do list of what my son’s should do to make it in this world. That list shriveled up and died. It’s not what we do in life it’s how we do it. The older I get the more I truly believe that. People will each have a measuring stick to rule up against your life as they determine how you fit. But it’s there stick and it’s not the one we need to line up with. There is only one measurement I need to line up with and that’s Gods. As I look at my son and see all that he’s already become I’m proud and feel quite blessed. It’s a great day, a difficult day, a day I sit and wonder what happened to time?

barbara added these pithy words on Jun 08 08 at 6:41 pmI can soooooooooo relate. As I watched my amazing oldest daughter get her diploma yesterday at Qwest Field in Seattle (Seattle Pacific University), my mind just wouldn’t stop racing with everything. My eyes also would NOT dry up but I am sure that is no surprise.
Roots and wings my friend, roots and wings. You’ve done a great job w/ the roots - now you get to sit back and watch your son fly.
