I’m 49 years old today. I look at other guys I think are my age and they all have kids much younger than me. That would be the definition of denial. My parents were about 10 years older than I am when they had their kids. So my reference point is skewed a bit. Still, you get to this age and you wonder, is 50 really less than a year away.
I promise not to buy any gold chains or a sports car. I just bought an Acura tsx; I hope that doesn’t count. I will stay away from purchasing matching shirts for Kathy and me. I will still be a bit of a nerd; it’s part of my age and when I hang around young people all the time, it’s going to happen.
I will try to age gracefully, whatever that means. I’m just happy to have my health, my family and all of you out there to write to.
So, here we go— another birthday, a nice trip to the coast with the love of my life, lunch at our favorite spot and pizza and beer for dinner. That’s what birthdays are all about.
Happy Birthday, Bro! Another year and it’ll be Happy Half a Century! (And doesn’t that bring up memories!)
Just think, when I was 50, my first grandchild was born. That’ll scare you! (Just think of Mom’s favorite word. Add the ending “-less”. Yeah, you got the picture. And accurate, too, I’ll bet!) Okay, so I was actually 50 and 1/2 when Ana came.
49. What an interesting year 49 will be for you. Redefining who you are. Exploring new facets to being you. Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new.
Have a great one! (And just to make you feel better, it’s only 108 here today. A cool spell. It’s under 110!)
Love ya lots….Have a hug: {{{Rick}}} and for Kathy putting up with you {{{{{Kathy}}}}} Yeah, she deserves more!
That, my friend, sounds like the PERFECT birthday. Yeh, we are truly twins. Well, we’re separated by a couple of years, and then a month and a few days, but I spent #47 at the coast last month (Memorial Day) with the new love of my life (me - I am really learning to love myself for the first time) and two of the five most important people in the world to me. We hung out, found shells, played in the sand, and then ate dinner at my favorite restaurant (Gracie’s Sea Hag). It was perfect. I am glad you had “perfect” too.
Again, Happy Birthday.
Glad to hear you had a good birthday. I will be 38 on 7-21 but UO has managed to come up with a arena hearing for me on that night. Who cares though I recently found my long lost ex wife I had been looking for for almost a decade. She flies planes in Alaska and may be flying firefighting planes in California next year. And I dont drive a car. Kind of funny. So anyway I hope to get her back and move out to the beach someday. I like the sound of that word someday even if it never comes. Maybe by the time I live at the coast with Thea Marie you will be our states Governor.
Happy Birthday!!! Sounds like you had a great one!
Mandy, I saw Brad the other day. He was pulling off Coburg Road and I was trying to get his attention but he didn’t see me. Miss you.
It was great to see you walking the streets of Springfield. I am reminded of how lucky we are to have honest and caring people like you around in the media, the streets and soon in the legislature. I came home to research your po;itcal side and found the Rick I have always known and trusted. Hope to see you in Hilsboro on the 4th. Keep up the good work and stay true to who you are.
Hey dude, happy B day!
Coffee probably will work later in the week. a.m. would be best!
