Should you need Proof of Citizenship to Vote?
In Monday’s Register Guard Newspaper (5/12/08) there’s an article talking about a plan in Missouri to require proof of citizenship from anyone registering to vote. We’ve linked you to the article so you can read it for yourself.
We took our camera out on the street to ask a few folks what they think of the idea.
Here’s how it works right now in Oregon. If you pull up the Voter Registration form on line it says you need to provide a Drivers License or Social Security Number in order to register to vote. But I called the Elections Division and was told if you don’t give either number you will still be registered to vote on Oregon issues and candidates but you can’t vote on National issues or candidates.
I think the Oregon requirement should be the same as the national. We could simply standardize the process.
To read more about what is required go to the bottom of our home page and click on the register to vote section.
As Secretary of State I believe only those legally entitled to vote, should vote and those who can legally vote should be encouraged to vote.

The current system is so messed up, we need to wipe it clean and start over from scratch. We need to erase all current voters from the books and require everyone to re-register to vote in person at monitored official stations.
Not only are illegals voting, so are the dead and animals. I have a co-worker that has registered her 2 dogs to vote and they have already filled out their ballots and sent them in.
Voter fraud?
Our entire voter system is corrupt and broken. Thanks to required vote by mail with no system to check its integrity. Why vote when your neighbors cat and dog and dead brother are voting too?
