Sometimes I wish there was a "Centerist" party because I would finally fit. I don't see myself as 100% republican or 100% democrat. I tend to see myself as just right of center. I consider myself republican because I tend to be more conservative and tend to agree with what the majority of the republican party stands for. However, I also am at odds with some things they seem to stand for (those who lean very very far right, that is). There are some parts of the democratic ideals that I support but I also am at odds with some things they stand for (those who lean very far left). I believe government should be there for structure but should not try to horn in on every area of my life. I appreciate what Rick stands for and the changes he wants to bring to the SOS in Salem. For too many years, I feel there has not been balance in Salem. I believe Rick is the man to bring this balance.

I agree. Unfortunately, government is becoming less and less of a forum for the exchange of ideas. Rather, it is growing into a battlefield on which to prove to everyone that your opinion is the only correct opinion. We need to move away from that and to the very roots of democracy; the open and honest exchange of ideas. If we want one opinion to prevail, we are headed for oligarchy and/or monarchy. We need as many people involved in order to prevent power in the hands of the few.
